MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE STAUNTON CITY COUNCIL, HELD IN THE PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING, 914 NORTH EASTON ST., STAUNTON, ILLINOIS ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2019

I. CALL TO ORDER:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 28, 2019

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.

III. ROLL CALL:

The annual Treasurer’s Report for the City of Staunton has been completed for the

fiscal year ending April 30, 2019, and a motion to accept will be during the Finance

Committee Report.

VIII. CITY CLERK’S REPORT

City Hall Office will be closed on Monday, November 11th, in observance of the

Veteran’s Day holiday. All public works employees, except one water treatment plant employee, will be off that day as well.

The next regularly scheduled City Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 12th, due to the Veteran’s Day holiday.

IX. COMMITTEE REPORTS

PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY -

Motion by Taylor, seconded by Johnson to pay Invoice #2949 to Advanced Communications for amount due on receipt of radio equipment for the police department in the amount of $13,233.24. This amount is 40% of the total invoice, which is due at the time of receipt of equipment. The 50% downpayment of $16,541.55 was approved at the June 10, 2019 City Council Meeting. Ayes: Johnson, Hanks, Taylor, Scanzoni, Bodner, Wallace. Nayes: None. Absent: Plenske. Motion carried.

Motion by Taylor, seconded by Bodner to approve Full Time Placement List compiled by the Police Commission from recent interviews, to be good for twelve months. Ayes: Hanks, Taylor, Scanzoni, Bodner, Wallace, Johnson. Nayes: None. Absent: Plenske. Motion carried.

PARK & CIVIC IMPROVEMENT –

Motion by Bodner, seconded by Johnson to pay Invoice #508101 to Sandberg Phoenix for Professional Services Rendered regarding condemnation proceedings at 307 E. Mill in the amount of $1,063.05. Ayes: Taylor, Scanzoni, Bodner, Wallace, Johnson, Hanks. Nayes: None. Absent: Plenske. Motion carried.

Motion by Bodner, seconded by Johnson to pay Invoice #508103 to Sandberg Phoenix for Professional Services Rendered regarding condemnation proceedings at 518 Washington in the amount of $1,186.10. X. UNFINISHED BUSINESS—

Public Works Director Kuethe checked on a purchase price for the signs which would

recognize resident Bob Fritz on his recent trap shooting championship. The cost of

the signs would be $75.00 each and one would be placed at each of the three entrances

to Staunton. The state may pay for the posts, but if not the cost would be $100.00 per

post. Kuethe will discuss more with the state and get the signs on order soon.
