MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE STAUNTON CITY COUNCIL, HELD IN THE PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING, 914 NORTH EASTON ST., STAUNTON, ILLINOIS ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2017

I. CALL TO ORDER:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 27, 2017

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.

III. ROLL CALL:

City Clerk Stiegemeier called roll with the following persons

VI. CORRESPONDENCE

Received an e-mail from Zion Lutheran Church requesting no parking on the north side of Henry Street from Elm to Wood Street on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. for their Live Nativity. They are also asking to use nine barricades.

Received a letter from Staunton Public Librarian Julie Jarman informing the City that

they will be doing some remodeling in the children’s library. Walls will be repainted

and carpet will be replaced with all expenses being paid by the library.

Received a letter from State of Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner asking the City of

Staunton to host an Illinois Bicentennial Flag Raising Ceremony to kick off the 365

day celebration for the state’s 200th birthday. The Ceremony will be on Monday,

December 4 at Noon. Enclosed with the letter was a complimentary Illinois Bicentennial Flag to be used at the event. There is also a request for the City to pass a Resolution in Support of Illinois Bicentennial Celebrations. The Resolution is attached and will be approved during the Judiciary Committee report.

PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY -

Motion by Bodner, seconded by Pritchett to approve Zion Lutheran Church’s request to have no parking on the north side of Henry Street from Elm to Wood Street on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. for their Live Nativity. Ayes: Johnson, Boster, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

PARK & CIVIC IMPROVEMENT –

Motion by Scanzoni, seconded by Boster to pay Invoice #8683 to Hap Industries, Inc. (Christmas Décor Systems) for Main Street Christmas decorations in the amount of $3,372.50. Ayes: Boster, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

FINANCE–

Motion by Pritchett, seconded by Bodner to approve Christmas bonuses to City Employees as follows:

$50.00 to Department Heads

$35.00 to Full Time Employees

$20.00 to Part Time Employees with more than 250 hours per year

Ayes: Boster, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson. Nayes: None.

UTILITIES-

Motion by Boster, seconded by Garde to accept bid to install furnace at water treatment plant. Ayes: Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson, Boster. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Boster, seconded by Pritchett to accept bid for electric panel replacement at the south water tower. Ayes: Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson, Boster, Plenske. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
