I. CALL TO ORDER:
Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 24, 2019
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.
III. ROLL CALL:

V. GUESTS
John Kehnast and Pete Matesa were in attendance to discuss the American flags that are hung on Main Street. Mr. Kehnast said the American Legion has been putting these flags up for 29 years. There is a problem with the old banner brackets that are still attached to the poles on Main Street where the flags are hung. The bands that were used to hang the banners are too long and they are catching on the flags and tearing them. Already this year, six flags have been torn and had to be replaced. It costs the American Legion $30.00 per flag to replace. John asked to at least have the bands cut off if the brackets are going to stay up. Mayor Neuhaus stated that he would be in contact with Chamber of Commerce President Carrie Borgini and see what their intentions are in the future with the banners. Mr. Kehnast also said the American Legion would be happy to turn this project of hanging the flags over to the City. Alderman Wallace commented that Main Street looks great when the flags are up. Mayor Neuhaus will be in touch with Mr. Kehnast after he talks with Chamber President Carrrie Borgini.
Ray Scroggins addressed the Council and stated that he lives on East Mill Street, and at this time he is having no more water issues at his house. The taste and odor problems have all cleared up. Mr. Scroggins also asked about the status on the Main Street Culvert Project. Mayor Neuhaus stated that at this time, the City is waiting on a possible grant.
VI. CORRESPONDENCE
Received a letter from Julie Jarman, Staunton Public Library Director, requesting to use the band shelter at City Hall for their Summer Reading Program Finale on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., with the rental fee being waived.

City Hall Office will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019 for the Independence Day
Holiday. All public works employees (except for one water treatment plant employee) will be off that day as well.
IX. COMMITTEE REPORTS
PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY -
Alderman Wallace stated that at the last City Council meeting, a motion was made to
Purchase a 2019 Dodge Durango police vehicle for a cost not to exceed $31,000.00,
however, this did not include the outfitting of the vehicle. The following motion is for the outfitting. Alderman Bodner asked if this included installation as well, but it does not. An estimated cost of $1,500.00 has been received for the installation.
Motion by Wallace, seconded by Hanks to approve Sales Order #1190736 from Responder PSE for the outfitting of the new 2019 Dodge Durango Police Vehicle in the amount of $5,238.86. Ayes: Johnson, Hanks, Schrauth, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Wallace. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
The following Working Agreement if the same one that has been in place for several
years. They offer a 24 hour crisis intervention hotline for youth, ages 11 to 17.
Motion by Wallace, seconded by Johnson approving Police Chief Jeff Doerr to sign the Working Agreement with the Children’s Home and Aid Comprehensive Community Based Youth Services Program. Ayes: Hanks, Schrauth, Plenske,
Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Wallace, Johnson. Nayes: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
PARK & CIVIC IMPROVEMENT –
Motion by Bodner, seconded by Wallace to grant request from Staunton Public Library to use the band shelter at City Hall on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., for their Summer Reading Program Finale, with the rental fee being waived.
