Public Hearing Notice--May 14, 2020 at 5:30 P.M.

Notice of Public Hearing

The City of Staunton will hold a public hearing on May 14, 2020, at 5:30PM, at the Public Works building located at 914 N Easton Staunton, IL 62088 to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed Downstate Small Business Stabilization application funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact Natalie Floyd 304 W Main St Staunton, IL 618-635-2233 no later than May 12th,2020. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

On or about May 25th, 2020, the City of Staunton intends to apply to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a grant from the State CDBG program. This program is funded by Title 1 of the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used to provide working capital for the benefit of Russell’s Furniture Co, Inc and Skeeters Pub, Inc. The total amount of CDBG funds to be requested is $25,000 per business and will address the urgent needs of the business due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Information related to this application will be available for review prior to the public hearing as of May 7, 2020 at City Hall between the hours of 8am-4:30pm. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. Written comments should be submitted to Natalie Floyd 304 W Main St Staunton, IL 62088 no later than May 14, 2020 to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings. This project will result in no displacement of any persons or businesses.
