VI. Correspondence (7:10-7:15)


Received a letter of resignation from full time police officer Thomas Williams. The letter is dated October 22, 2021 and his last day of employment will be November 5, 2021.


Received an email from the Staunton Chamber of Commerce requesting to close Main Street from Edwardsville Street to Union Street on Friday evening, December 3rd from 4:00 to 8:00 and Saturday, December 4th from 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. for the Christmas Tree Lighting and Snack with Santa. They are also asking to keep Main Street closed from Wood Street to Elm Street from 8:00 P.M. on December 3rd until 8:00 A.M. on December 4th.


Received a letter of resignation from part time Yard Waste Site Attendant Steve Griffith, dated November 3, 2021, effective immediately.


Received the Official Certificate from the Office of the Secretary of State of Illinois notifying the City of Staunton that from the 2020 Census taken, it appears that the City of Staunton has 5,054 inhabitants.


Have received word that VFW Post #1241 will be having a Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the Veteran’s Circle in front of City Hall at 302 West Main. This will be on Thursday, November 11th with the time to be announced.

The City Clerk’s Office will be closed on Thursday, November 11, 2021 for the Veteran’s Day holiday. All public works employees, except for one water treatment plant employee, will be off that day as well.

Public Health & Safety – Manning (7:20-7:25)


Motion to grant request from the Staunton Chamber of Commerce to close Main Street from Edwardsville Street to Union Street on Friday, December 3rd from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also on Saturday, December 4th from 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., and also closing Main Street from Wood Street to Elm Street from 8:00 P.M. on Friday, December 3rd until 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 4th

for the Christmas Tree Lighting and Snack with Santa


Park & Civic Improvement - Scanzoni (7:25– 7:30)

Motion to approve bid from J-N-F Tree Service for tree removal from the

Fireman’s Park in the amount of $4,900.00


Motion to approve spending up to $6,000.00 for flag poles and solar lighting to

be installed at the Ralph & Josephine Community Center and the South Water

Tower Park


Motion to approve spending up to $2,000.00 for support of the Yard of the Week

Motion to approve Renewal Quote with Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust for the City’s Municipal Insurance for the year December 1, 2021 through December 1, 2022, in the amount of $98,134.00. The Staunton Public Library will be reimbursing the City $850.00 for their portion of the premium.


Risk Fund at a cost of $47,300.00 (Policy Period is from Jan. 1, 2022, to Jan. 1,

2023)



Utilities / Water - Moore (7:35-7:40)

Motion to approve Bid #5008782 from Midwest Municipal Supply for 4” SDR-21

Pipe for water main upgrade on Lakewood Drive, off of Renken Road, and Streeb

Lane water main extension in the amount of $5,502.00

Street / Sewer – Machota (7:40-7:45)


Motion to purchase Western 9’ Pro Plus Plow for new truck from Woody’s Municipal Supply Co. in the amount of $7,995.00. This will be paid from line item 01.41.831.0.

Public Grounds – Machota (7:45-7:50)

Tourism – Neuhaus - (7:50-7:55)

Personnel – Johnson - (7:55-8:00)

Motion to hire Linda Curtis as part time Crossing Guard and part time Yard Waste Site Attendant


Motion to hire Sharon Leichsenring as part time Administrative Assistant in the City Clerk’s Office


Motion to approve Christmas bonuses to City Employees as follows:

$250.00 to Department Heads and Full Time Bookkeeper Lori Grandone

$150.00 to Full Time Employees

$100.00 to Part Time Employees with more than 250 hours per year
