MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE STAUNTON CITY COUNCIL, HELD IN THE RALPH & JOSEPHINE OLTMANN COMMUNITY CENTER, 101 W. PEARL ST., STAUNTON, ILLINOIS ON MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2023


I. CALL TO ORDER:


Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 23, 2023.


II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.


III. ROLL CALL:

City Clerk Stiegemeier called roll with the following persons:

VIII. CITY CLERK’S REPORT

Governor Pritzker has signed a new Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation extending the statewide declaration through February 4, 2023, which means that public meetings may continue to be held remotely.

Motion by Tipler, seconded by Moore to approve donation to the VFW Post #1241 for HVAC improvements in the amount of $5,000.00. At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Berg, Machota, Moore, Tipler, Dias. Nayes: None. Absent: Manning. Motion carried.


Motion by Tipler, seconded by Moore to approve purchasing two scoreboards for the baseball fields from Nevco at a total cost of $10,410.00. At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Machota, Moore, Tipler, Dias, Berg. Nayes: None. Absent: Manning. Motion carried.

Motion by Dias, seconded by Tipler to approve Ordinance #2189 Declaring Real Property Bearing Parcel Identification Number 01-002-569-00 As Surplus Real Property And Authorizing Its Sale. At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Moore, Tipler, Dias, Berg, Machota. Nayes: None. Absent: Manning. Motion carried.


Motion by Dias, seconded by Moore to waive 1st reading of Ordinance #2190 Amending The Liquor Code For The City Of Staunton, Illinois (Increasing Class D Licenses from 6 to 7). At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Tipler, Dias, Berg, Machota, Moore. Nayes: None. Absent: Manning. Motion carried.


Motion by Dias, seconded by Moore to approve Ordinance #2190 Amending The Liquor Code For The City Of Staunton, Illinois (Increasing Class D Licenses from 6 to 7). At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Dias, Berg, Machota, Moore, Tipler. Nayes: None. Absent: Manning. Motion carried.

Motion by Dias, seconded by Machota to approve Resolution #2023-03 Approving A Professional Services Agreement. At Roll Call Vote – Ayes: Berg, Machota, Tiper, Dias. Nayes: Moore. Absent: Manning. Motion carried 4 Ayes; 1 Naye.

XI. NEW BUSINESS-

The City will be seeking bids in the very near future for asbestos abatement for the buildings at 104 and 108 East Main Street.
