Mayor Craig Neuhaus presented Wyatt, Carter and Madison Otto, each with a Certificate of Heroism, for their efforts in saving their father’s life the morning of December 23rd, 2024.  The children’s father, Charles Otto, suffered a severe seizure that morning and had stopped breathing.  Wyatt instantly called 911 and Carter called his mother, Dana, on the phone as she had already gone to work.  Dana, who works as a registered nurse, instructed both boys, and without their valiant efforts, their father would not have survived.  While the boys were following life saving measures, Madison assisted with getting ambulance personnel in to the home so they could take over and get Charles transported to Community Hospital of Staunton.  Once stabilized, he was air lifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for further treatment and spent eight days in the I.C.U.  Without the quick thinking and fast acting of the Otto children, Mr. Otto wouldn’t be here today.  The entire City Council gave the Otto children and round of applause and Mayor Neuhaus presented all three with their Ceritifcates of Heroism.
