MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE STAUNTON CITY COUNCIL, HELD IN THE PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING, 914 NORTH EASTON ST., STAUNTON, ILLINOIS ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2018

I. CALL TO ORDER:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus called the Staunton City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 26, 2018

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Mayor Craig Neuhaus led the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.

III. ROLL CALL:

City Clerk Stiegemeier called roll with the following persons

ATTENDING: Councilmembers Maria Bodner, Rich Garde, Rick Johnson, Chad Plenske, Anthony Schrauth, Ryan Pritchett, Jeff Scanzoni, Mayor Craig Neuhaus, City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier, City Attorney Phil Lading and Public Works Director Mike Kuethe.

NOT ATTENDING: Alderman Ray Scroggins, City Treasurer Cindy Pirok and Police Chief Jeff Doerr.

Received a letter from the Staunton Chamber of Commerce requesting to close Main Street from Edwardsville to Union Street, as well as the intersections of Elm and Main and Wood and Main, on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. for the annual Holiday Walk and Tree Lighting Ceremony.

City Clerk Stiegemeier reminded everyone circulating petitions for the upcoming

Consolidated Election in April, 2019, that the filing period for completed petitions will be from December 10 thru December 17, 2018.

PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY -

Motion by Bodner, seconded by Johnson to grant request from the Staunton Chamber of Commerce to close Main Street from Edwardsville to Union Street, as well as the intersections of Elm and Main and Wood and Main, on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. for the annual Holiday Walk and Tree Lighting Ceremony. Ayes: Johnson, Schrauth, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde. Nayes: None. Absent: Scroggins. Motion carried.

PARK & CIVIC IMPROVEMENT –

Motion by Scanzoni, seconded by Plenske to pay Invoice #8970 from Hap Industries, Inc. (Christmas Décor Systems) for Main Street Christmas decorations in the amount of $3,372.50. Ayes: Schrauth, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson. Nayes: None. Absent: Scroggins. Motion carried.

FINANCE–

Motion by Pritchett, seconded by Plenske to pay Invoice #708967 from Kerber, Eck & Braeckel, LLP for the second and third installments for preparation of the City’s audit for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2018 in the amount of $5,000.00. Ayes: Schrauth, Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson. Nayes: None. Absent: Scroggins. Motion carried.

UTILITIES-

Motion by Garde, seconded by Pritchett to approve Quote #0123760 from Midwest Municipal Supply for meters, setters and miscellaneous fittings for stock in the amount of $5,033.00. Ayes: Plenske, Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson, Schrauth. Nayes: None. Absent: Scroggins. Motion carried.

STREET-

Motion by Garde, seconded by Pritchett to approve Quote #0123857 from Midwest Municipal Supply for stock inlet grates in the amount of $3,336.00. Ayes: Pritchett, Scanzoni, Bodner, Garde, Johnson, Schrauth, Plenske. Nayes: None. Absent: Scroggins. Motion carried.
