VI. Correspondence (7:10-7:15)


Received a letter of resignation from Full Time Police Dispatcher Tammy Martin, dated May 12, 2023. Tammy will be retiring and her last day of employment will be May 26, 2023.


Received an email from Staunton Unit Schools asking to use the Fireman’s Park on Wednesday, May 24th for an end of school event. They have asked for the park rental fee to be waived.


Received a note from the Staunton Public Library thanking the City Council and City employees for their assistance in completing the Story Book Walk at the South Water Tower Park.


The American Legion Post 362 and VFW Post 1241 will be conducting a Memorial Day ceremony at the Veteran’s Monument on Main Street on Monday, May 29th at 11:00 A.M. A complete list of other ceremonies is included with the agenda packet. There is no Memorial Day parade this year.

Richard Coyne brought in a letter that he sent to Illinois Department of Natural Resources

along with several pictures that he has taken regarding his concerns with an abandoned mine site near his property. He asked me to share his letter and all of the pictures with the City Council. A copy of the Mr. Coyne’s letter is included with the agenda packet and a binder of his pictures is available for you to see here at the City Clerk’s Office.

Public Health & Safety – Manning (7:20-7:25)


Motion to pay Invoices #569829 and #569755-02 to Leon Uniform Company for

ballistic vests for police officers in the amount of $5,664.00


Park & Civic Improvement - Tipler (7:25– 7:30)

Motion to purchase new frames and wood for picnic tables at City owned parks,

with a cost not to exceed $6,000.00


Motion to purchase new locks for buildings at City owned parks, with a cost not

to exceed $1,200.00


Motion to grant request from Staunton Unit Schools to use the Fireman’s Park on

Wednesday, May 24th, with the park rental fee being waived


Motion to donate $1,000.00 to the Staunton Fire Department to assist them with

expenses for the upcoming Homecoming Celebration
